In this study, the authors utilized data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study spanning from 2011 to 2018. They assessed the link between HbA1c/HDL-C levels and stroke incidence.
The findings revealed that elevated HbA1c/HDL-C levels are significantly associated with increased stroke risk. This underscores the potential of using HbA1c/HDL-C as a clinical marker for assessing long-term stroke risk and guiding preventive measures in healthcare practices. Read full article here.
A recent study explored the connection between metabolic score for visceral fat (METS-VF) and skeletal muscle mass index (SMI), revealing important insights into how abdominal obesity impacts muscle health. The findings indicated that increased visceral fat is associated with lower muscle mass among U.S. adults. Read full article here.
This study explores connection between body roundness index (BRI) and osteoarthritis (OA). The researchers utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey spanning from 1999 to 2018, involving 12,946 individuals.
The developed prediction model demonstrated potential that combining BRI with other easily accessible factors was helpful in assessing and managing high-risk OA groups. Read full article here.
This interesting research article explores the physiological function of LPAR3 in mouse kidneys under hypoxia. Read full article here.

Lipids in Health and Disease is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles on all aspects of lipids, such as their interaction with proteins and their pharmacological, (bio)chemical, and molecular effects at the organismal level. We are also interested in molecular toxicological investigations related to lipids and natural products that can interact with various aspects of lipids in health and disease. The synthesis and actions of new lipid compounds and enzyme systems involved in lipid synthesis and metabolism are of interest.
Lipids in Health and Disease invites submissions from all scientists, health care professionals, and physicians in all areas of lipids. Lipids are defined herein in their broadest sense and include:
The journal publishes research that investigates and defines the role of lipids in various physiological and pathological processes including, but not limited to:
The journal particularly welcomes:
In particular, the journal seeks to bridge the gap between fundamental research and clinical application by highlighting studies that clarify the role of lipids in disease mechanisms, diagnostics, and therapeutic strategies.
